putting rad in the radar x

1. Mad Men maybe off the air right now but there's one man who I'm mad about who's back on. Welcome back Conan, welcome back.

2. This video. I still think it's the coolest afternoon activity.
Brooklyn Dad, you're a star.

3. Eataly. Sometimes I feel like I'm in Italy's version of Ikea. With isles of food and crowds of people, it can feel all too overwhelming. Regardless, I would love to reenact an episode of Supermarket Sweep in Eataly or just enjoy some mozzarella burrata without the herd.

4. It's Movember. Some of the men in my office are growing moustaches and raising money to support prostate cancer research.
Click here to donate to such an important cause! And in the spirit of Movember, I found an excuse to purchase these.

5. Brandy Library in Tribeca. For someone who doesn't drink whiskey, the whiskey tasting event was still very enjoyable (even if I was drunk off of one sip of the Scottish stuff).

6. 'Tis the season. The holid
ays are around the corner and have crept their way into my emails. Jack Spade, well done. I'll let Santa know to move you to the top of his nice list.

7. GroupMe. Started by a former Gilt guy and currently, used by the Gilt soccer team. Now you can text like you're in a chat room in 1998. You can have a group of your friends in one text without getting made fun of for mass texting. Download the app to your smart or stupid phone.

8. I met Bruno Mars last week. He said girl you're amazing, just the way you are. I hope he wasn't just rehearsing.

Oh Henry!

Saturday was spent taking in views of the Hudson with Chelsea. On a fleeting fall day, Chelsea headed north of 14th street to check out the Cloisters with me, catch up before hibernation season kicks in and get some fresh air.

The grounds of the museum are just beautiful. Even though we had a delicious breakfast beforehand, part of me wished we had packed a picnic instead and really took advantage of that sunny November day. The permanent collection kept us well occupied and walking along the Hudson made that little regret disappear.

Shhhhh. It's a quiet zone.

This was the least goofy pic of the bunch. It's the only one I'm not dancing around in.

Just a few stops on the A train and bam, nature! Ok more than a few but well worth the trek.

Baked Snookies

Every so often my friends from college like to get together for a themed potluck. From game night to music, we really get into it. This month the theme was The Jersey Shore. I found myself in a bit of a situation as I don't watch the show. To get myself out of this pickle, I asked Aaron, who gmails entertaining recaps of what he calls "the greatest show of our generation."

Between my friends, there were a lot of ideas thrown around- tshirt pad thaime, smushed potatoes, fist pumpkin pie, beat up the beet salad, spaghetti and meatheads, buffalo chicken grenades. I ended up going with Danielle's suggestion, Snookidoodle cookies.

For the recipe, click here.

A little gym, TAN, laundry.

I regretfully didn't put orange food coloring into the batter t
o get the full Snooki effect. My sous-chef mentioned this after the snookies were in the oven. To compensate, add orange icing to the top of the cookie. Smush two cookies together (with ice cream in between) and you've got something to fist pump about.

Conference Call

Becky was in town the other week. While I dragged her to Co. for lunch and SPiN for exercise, she dragged me to the Brand New Conference. With distinguished international guest speakers and big shots from Pentagram and Wolff Olins, she didn't need to do much, if any, convincing. I signed up for a Friday away from my computer to listen to people talk about the stuff they create in front of their computer for clients, big and small.

Of the speakers, I was really inspired by this one guy, Christian, of The Decoder Ring. From Modest Mouse to Spoon, it was clear that his love for music and design not only overlapped but were very much a part of his life. Each project, regardless of the client, really showcased his passion for design. They were quirky, thought provoking and inspiring. You could tell just how much he pours himself into his work. I especially loved his dirty kitchen rats logo.

If you're headed south to Austin, be sure to check out this hotdog joint that Christian opened up with his brother. Wouldn't be the first time I wanted to visit a city because of a restaurant. Favorite personal touch, the receiver is a frank!

Rain King

I woke up to the rain this morning, only fitting after meeting the Rain King last night. Thank you Amanda for the invite. I've been listening to him since August and Everything After. I may have been a dork and told him that. Either way, I thought he should know that his music has longevity and from roadtrips to my itunes, it still gets played.

Anne and I missed NOTAR's show because we got held up at Tom Colicchio's new restaurant Riverpark. Gossip Girl was filming there and we were delayed. Next time, I will be sure to catch NOTAR's show as his EP features collaborations with the Rain King and Chris from Dashboard. After taking Mr. Jones' photograph, we met up with some friends who I haven't hung out with since this past summer in the south of France. While the setting wasn't the same, Lovely Day and a bottle of red wine managed to do the trick.

I think they found Provence a little more entertaining than Nolita.

Awwtumn Hike

It's November and the remnants of Halloween lie in photographs and bowls of candy. Unless you're in Central Park, you don't get a real visual of fall in New York City. You only feel it as you layer up to face the drop in temperature outside. Before Awwtumn escapes us, this travel bug suggests a little trip outside the city to get the perfect fall backdrop.

From Grand Central, you can hop on a quick and easy train upstate. Cold Spring is convenient, the train station is not far from the base of the mountain. With a town of small shops and restaurants, it makes for a great urban escape, or in my book the ideal day date.

The other Saturday, we ditched college football games and decided to hike in Beacon, NY. Next time, a trip to DIA is in store but for that Indian summer Saturday, we were trailblazers.

Liam recreating a scene from Dirty Dancing.

Lara and I did not coordinate our hiking gear. Sometimes things just work out that way.

Mike and the great outdoors.

Taking in the Hudson Valley views with Jaclyn and Jon.

Falling for fall.

The best way to end a hike - dinner and drinks at a nearby restaurant overlooking the water.
