Montauk Bites
We got a taste of Montauk during the tail end of the weekend as opposed to the height of the weekend, which I imagine is a different pace. It's a popular destination now and apparently the places that were charming, I'm told are a bit of a "scene" on a Saturday night. That said, come as you are, when you want and enjoy the tip of Long Island, a place where a casual laid back lifestyle reigns. For me, I prefer when the crowds disperse and you're left with the locals and the vacationers. But then again, who doesn't like a little more space to themselves on the beach?

How to get there:
LIRR. The Long Island Rail Road takes you right into town. It's a long train ride but it's direct and you skip out on traffic. Weekdays the schedule isn't as accommodating but it's an option.
Rent a car.
